J Edgar was a very powerful man, but he held secrets that would have devastated his image, his career and his life. I think that one of his most hidden secrets was his sexual preference He was gay; he also was feared and appreciated, reviled and revered by many. J Edgar had to keep his image clean before others in order to be admired and respected. The legendary FBI director lay was living with his mother until he was 40 here we have seen that there was a very serious problem because he did not have girlfriend, wife, or child; gracelessly rejecting the attention of women and pouring his emotional, and at times, physical attention on his handsome deputy at the FBI. Edgar seemed that he had a pleasing appearance but behind closed doors he kept all his frustration at not being able to say how really he was and how he felt. He in a short time was able to demonstrate his ability to work in the FBI because during World War I, in August 1919 Hoover was hired by the Justice Department; he became head of the new General Intelligence Division of the Bureau of Investigation within the Justice Department When Hoover took over the Bureau of Investigation, it had approximately 650 employees, including 441 Special Agents. It shows to us the passion and dedication that he had for his job. Hoover was not a perfect man but I think he was trying to be a good person one of the problems was that in many cases he did not take good decisions in life. He chose to live his life like that and we have to respect that, all I have to say is that I am very glad to know a little about his life.
